The Most Wonderful End to the Year
Ah, the company holiday party, naturally the social highlight of the most wonderful time of the year. And what a year it was!
In March, we raised $70M in Series B funding.
By June we hit 1MM square feet of space across three cities.
In October we raised another $60M of capital, led by Norwest.
In December we reached 2MM square feet across five cities. WHEW.
Our team also grew in size from 90 to 250 people, who are all working hard to make this flexible office space dream a reality. And we began to think seriously about what it means to be a team, especially with an imminent global expansion on the horizon. We started examining our Team IQ, taking into account the diversity of our company, balanced participation within our teams, whether our people felt empowered to speak up and take risks, and our connectedness to each other and the outside world. As it stands, 40 percent of employees in leadership positions are female and nearly 70 percent of our executive team is non-white, and we’re working on improving diversity in every sense of the word across our company. The wellbeing of our people is paramount, and we know that in 2019, these markers will matter more than ever as we continue to grow.
Luckily, we’re experts at interior design, so we decked the halls at Experience by Knotel for a festive fête, complete with signature sips, elegant eats, and dance-floor action that would put Elaine Benes to shame. We spread good tidings to one another at a card-writing station, we created magical moments that will go down in photobooth history, we even had a fully equipped s’mores station for dessert.
We have every intention of topping this explosive year in 2019. We’ll be bringing Knotel to cities around the world where demand is high. We’re also expanding our service offerings at home in New York, with neighborhood micro-amenities such as coffee shops, private meeting rooms, wellness spaces, white glove event space, social clubs and more. Watch this space. Our headcount is only going to grow to meet this demand, so keep an eye on our jobs board if you want to join our movement.
